Skagit Kids Read Week is an annual celebration of literacy marked by community readings, events and activities. The Skagit County Commissioners make a formal proclamation declaring the week as ‘Skagit Kids Read Week’, a featured author is selected and their works become the central theme of the week. Join us in promoting literacy and the joy of reading!!
- 2023’s dates are May 7-13th!
- Participate in “Get Caught Reading” – share pictures and video of you, your family and friends, caught in the act of reading on the Facebook event page!
- Thursday, May 11 – Numerous readings across the county! “We’re All In The Same Boat” will be read throughout the county. Details coming soon.
- Friday, May 12 – 10:30am-11:30am – Readings at Burlington Public Library “We’re All In The Same Boat” & “Beautiful Oops” read by author Barney Saltzberg.
- Saturday, May 13 – 10am-12pm - Community Event & Celebration at Children's Museum of Skagit County.
- Multiple language book reading! “We’re All In The Same Boat” read in English by author Barney Saltzberg, and Spanish, Mixteco, Russian/Ukranian, Lushootseed, Danish, ASL and Chinese by community members.
- Crazy Hair Day station – come and make your hair crazy!
- Book Signing with Barney
