This weekend brings plenty of reasons to smile, with promises of sunny weather and a chance to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday.
There are so many creative ways to help make mom feel extra special this weekend. Here's a few we came up with here at Skagit Kid Insider.
Get Crafty: Supply your kids with crayons, paint and paper and let them create a one-of-a-kind card to show mom how much they care.
Dance Party: Gather all the kids together, turn on some upbeat music and have a dance party around your living room. Better yet, choreograph a silly dance routine and send the video to the grandparents so they can join in the fun.
Meal Service: Leave the planning, execution and cleanup to your partner and kids on Mother's Day and enjoy a delicious meal and some time to yourself.
Garden Project: Get the family involved in planting some new seeds or flowers in your yard and watch them grow all summer long.
The VISIONS Parent Involvement Program at Clear Lake Elementary School has openings for the 2020-2021 school year. This 1st grade through 6th grade program is part of the Sedro-Woolley School District and accepts students from all over Skagit County. This is a great way to become more involved in your child's education through volunteering, while providing them with art, music, business and language instruction.
A lot of local residents in Skagit county are making cloth face masks and it would be wonderful if we could keep the money we spend on them in our community. Check the list below for people making and selling cloth face masks locally.
I encourage you to do your own research on cloth face masks and purchase a mask that meets the specifications of your researched results. Kid Insider is not vetting these masks in any way.
Disclaimer: This list is for informational purposes only. Kid Insider, LLC is not a source of medical advice. There is no guarantee that cloth masks protect anyone against the spread of germs, cloth masks are not medical grade masks. For medical advice consult your doctor.
Also, be very careful with your financial information if paying with a credit card. You should not be giving your credit card number to anyone over the phone or in person that you do not know.
Our local Youth Soccer Associations realize that this is the season to register kids for fall soccer. They're all meeting and making decisions about when to open registration and figuring out what their 2020 seasons will look like.
