Skagit Flood Updates & Resources

Updated 12/11/2025

Our community is experiencing significant flooding throughout Skagit County, with rising river levels, road closures, and shelter advisories in place. While the situation continues to evolve, emergency crews, public works teams, and local volunteers are working around the clock to keep families safe.

Please avoid flooded areas, obey all detours, and stay tuned to official alerts.

We know this has been an incredibly stressful week for many in our community as flooding continues to impact neighborhoods across Skagit County. Our hearts are with every family navigating evacuations, road closures, school disruptions, and uncertainty. Stay safe and continue looking out for one another.

Weekend Events & Activities: Important Update

Many organizations across Skagit County have made the difficult decision to cancel or postpone their holiday events and activities this weekend out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the community and their employees. With rising water levels, road closures, and rapidly changing conditions, safety must come first.

At Skagit Kid Insider, we strongly recommend families shelter in place and avoid traveling unless it is absolutely necessary. We know this is one of the most magical times of the year to get out, make memories, and celebrate the season with your loved ones and community — but today, staying home is the safest choice.

Please be aware that:

  • Many libraries are closed

  • Many festivals, workshops, and holiday activities are canceled

  • Some events have chosen to postpone until conditions improve

If you still want to get out for a holiday activity, please check directly with the event organizer before leaving home to confirm whether it is still happening. And do not drive on any closed roads or attempt to bypass barriers to get there. Conditions can change quickly and unpredictably.

For families in the Anacortes community, most weekend activities are still moving forward as planned at this time — but please continue to check for updates from individual organizers.

If you are an event organizer with updated details, please message Skagit Kid Insider so we can share accurate information with families. If you are unsure about an event, we recommend checking the organizer’s website or social media before leaving home.
